Common Questions and Answers about Athletics at Willamette High School
Q: HOW DO I FIND OUT MORE INFORMATION ABOUT MY SPORT?
A: Contact the coach by e-mail
Q: HOW OFTEN AND WHEN DO TEAMS PRACTICE?
A: Coaches will hand out a practice schedule at the beginning of each season. Most of our sports teams practice and/or play games 5 or 6 days per week (games are scheduled on the weekend in some sports.)
Q: WHERE CAN I FIND UPDATED GAME SCHEDULES?
A: Schedules are posted on the WHS Athletic Website as soon as they are created/revised.
You can also sign up for alerts and e-mails when there are changes to a specific schedule.
Q: WHAT IF I CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY THE SPORTS FEE?
A: Students who qualify for Free/Reduced lunches are provided a scholarship to assist with part of the fees. More information included when registering on-line.
Q: WHEN CAN I SIGN-UP FOR MY SPORT SEASON?
A: Students must be signed up on-line prior to the start of their sports season – see dates on previous page. On-line Sports Registration will be open no less than one month prior to your season. Fall Season sign-up begins June 1!
Q: WILL GRADES SUFFER DUE TO A BUSY SPORTS SCHEDULE?
A: Studies show that students who participate in co-curricular activities and play on athletic teams have higher GPAs, are more effective time managers, and have fewer disciplinary problems in school than those students who do not participate. Coaches, Advisors and Teachers will provide excellent supervision in helping students develop and maintain good study habits. Students who are not passing all classes are not eligible to participate, which provides an additional incentive for students to do well in ALL CLASSES.
Q: I’M STILL NOT SURE – WHO CAN I CONTACT TO ASK MORE QUESTIONS?
A: Contact the Athletic Director, Thomas Armstrong at email@example.com, or one of the coaches listed above.
